Stand for the council
With our first councillor elected over 20 years ago we are a well-established local party seeking both to maintain and increase our teams of councillors.
The next scheduled elections are for the Suffolk County Council in 2025, when we are aiming to increase representation from the current three councillors. All 10 county seats in Mid Suffolk will become vacant and we seek candidates to put the Green Party on the ballot paper everywhere.
To gain experience in a less demanding role, vacancies arise from time to time on parish and town councils. You could consider standing as a green or independent councillor.
All District, town and parish councillors will next be elected in May 2027.
And whenever the next general election is held, the Green Party will be looking to increase the Suffolk representation in Parliament beyond the one MP currently, by again standing candidates for all eight constituencies.

Get involved and lend a hand
If you fancy rolling your sleeves up and getting yours hands mucky (mainly figuratively though occasionally it doesn’t hurt to get some soil under the fingernails), then please read on!
We always welcome volunteers to help with our campaigning work. Could you help deliver our newsletters to your street or village, or go out with our campaign team and speak to local residents about their concerns?
We are particularly keen to find more volunteers with fundraising experience or press, research and administrative skills. We also run tree planting schemes and community litter picking in the autumn and spring.
Whatever your level of experience and however much or little time you can give, we would love to hear from you.
If you would like to get involved or just want more information, please fill out our short volunteering form below.
Alternatively, you can contact our District organiser John Matthissen john@suffolkgreenparty.org.uk or 01449 258894 for more information about ways you can get involved.
