The appeal for 49 homes has been allowed and the planning permission granted - mainly based on the applicant's argument that the Council does not have a Five Year Housing Land Supply - despite the Council recently publishing data to suggest it has a 6.5 year supply.
Rachel Eburne, Green Party Leader of the Opposition on the Council said:
"This shows the foolhardiness of the Conservative Administration spending time, effort and money on investing outside of our district when they should have been focusing on planning and housing - particularly the Council building more homes and helping to get the right homes where communities want them. Back in 2014, and many times since, the Green Group argued more should be done to ensure a five year housing land supply and once again Conservative leadership has failed our local communities."
The inspector found that the council land supply, calculated in accordance with Government methodology, was only 3.4 years.
