Committed Greens travelled from across the region to Bury St Edmunds on Saturday 28 September to deliver leaflets to some 3,500 homes.
After a fantastic showing in the local elections in May, the constituency now has 12 Green district councillors.
One of them, Helen Geake, will again be carrying Green hopes as the party’s prospective parliamentary candidate, having stood in the 2015 and 2017 Westminster elections.
Archaeologist Dr Geake said: “The day was a great way for local members to explore new parts of Bury St Edmunds, and for members from further afield to discover the beauties of medieval Bury St Edmunds - all while helping to get the news out that we're campaigning for clean air, better housing and more public transport across the constituency.
“Although the main purpose of the day was to share information by simply posting leaflets through letterboxes, we also had some excellent conversations where we heard concerns about the climate crisis, the state of Parliament and the Brexit stalemate, and the drawbacks of our current voting system.
“Whenever the election is called, we'll be ready to stand up for tolerance and kindness in public life, and against inequality and the vested interests that are hindering the fight against pollution and climate breakdown."
The leaflets had an immediate tangible effect as at least one Bury resident signed up as a member on the spot on Saturday afternoon.
Further leafleting will take place throughout the constituency including Stowmarket, the seat’s second-largest town.
