The Green Parties in Suffolk have our own particular long-standing reasons to oppose the development.
"If ever built it will be a white elephant at vast expense to the electricity bill payers combined with an environmental disaster on the Suffolk coast. This is obsolete and unsafe technology which other countries are leaving behind in favour of safe renewable alternatives, plus smart metering and battery backup. Together, these alternatives are now far cheaper than the “strike price” which Government has had to offer to persuade EDF to go ahead. Renewables also provide more jobs for local people, and keep more money in the local economy." said Mid Suffolk Green Party co-ordinator, Councillor John Matthissen
And all this is in addition to the huge disruption that would be inflicted on local people in Suffolk.
