Green Party Councillor - Andrew Stringer

Since being elected in 2003, as the first ever Elected Green Party Councillor in Suffolk, Andrew has been at the forefront of many campaigns. From clearing up fly-tipping and litter to re-establishing local services, NHS Dentists, Bus Services, Post Offices, Affordable Social Housing, Making local voices heard in Planning Decisions and much more.

Andrew has lived in Mid Suffolk all his life, has a wife Sarah & two children, Alice, Primary School Teacher and Jacob, a History and Politics graduate, both attended local schools, making them the third generation of the family to do so.

Andrew has over the years led many political groups as a serving councillor, including in 2018/2019 leading the Lib Dem, Green & Independent group at Suffolk County Council, after serving as leader of the Green Group at the District Council for over 12 years.

Andrew is proud of his achievements as a part-time councillor; driven from a love of the County he lives in and a passion that communities be self-reliant and resilient. A strong Independent Green voice to ensure Suffolk has both a financially and an environmentally sustainable future.

Andrew believes that you only need three qualifications to be a Councillor;  you need to first be able to Read, second be able Write (even if it is texts at times) and third, you need to care about People. Because if you care about people you will use those other skills to help them.
