- John is Chair of the Audit & Standards Committee
- John served as a member of a planning committee throughout this period
- He has previously served as a member of the former Environment Policy Panel, on Licensing Committee, for four years, as Vice-Chair of the Scrutiny Committee, and 2 terms on the Suffolk Standards Board
- John has been instrumental in many developments within the district including bringing a new NHS dentist to Stowmarket, improving cycle-paths and bus routes, and campaigning for improvement to Needham Market Station
- John has lived in Suffolk for many years, most recently in Finborough and now in Needham Market
