Rachel Eburne
District Councillor for Haughley, Stowupland & Wetherden Ward
First elected in a by-election in March 2010 representing the Haughley & Wetherden Ward. Re-elected uncontested in 2011 and 2015. Re-elected in May 2019 representing the new Ward of Haughley, Stowupland & Wetherden (including Old Newton & Dagworth with Gipping). Rachel won again in May 2023 alongside Janet Pearson.
- Rachel was the Leader of the Green Group at the District Council until June 2021
- She was Chair of the Scrutiny Committee from May 2011 to May 2019
- Rachel is Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources on Mid Suffolk District Council
- Her experience is in business management and after gaining an MSc in Environmental Politics she worked for a national charity, Women’s Environmental Network.
- In a trustee role, Rachel has worked with Suffolk Wildlife Trust and the East of England Apples & Orchards Project as well as local organisations.
- Locally she is a keen advocate of expanding wildlife areas, community orchards and tree-planting, and improving foot and cycle paths as well as providing sustainable housing for young people and the elderly.
- Rachel lives in Haughley Green.
