Nationally, the Green Party has elected a new leadership team, with Zack Polanski as leader supported by Rachel Millward and Mothin Ali as deputy leaders. Leader of Mid Suffolk District Council, Councillor Andy Mellen welcomed the results:
“On behalf of Mid Suffolk Green Party, I welcome the new Party leadership team. Zack Polanski has visited Suffolk a number of times as deputy leader. We’ve seen him on the doorsteps talking to residents and his style will bring new support for the party, as we continue to flag up the concern for the planet and its people. We look forward to his support as we contest the mayoral and county council elections next year. Adrian Ramsay is the East’s only Green MP so far, his strategic co-leadership of the party has set a secure foundation for what is to come, and we will continue to work closely with him to represent the people of Mid Suffolk.“
Members have elected two high profile local councillors as co-deputy leaders of the Green Party of England and Wales. Mothin Ali and Rachel Millward will serve alongside new leader Zack Polanski. Rachel is co-leader of Wealden District Council in Sussex and Mothin is the first Green councillor to represent Gipton and Harehills ward in Leeds.
Commenting on the new deputy leaders, Mid Suffolk Councillor John Matthissen added:
“It is great to see these high profile Green Party councillors elected, bringing local authority experience from rural and urban districts both north and south of England. We know they will be busy, but hope we shall soon see them visiting the first Green-run council.”
