Green Party councillors were very pleased to be invited to see the release of beavers in Suffolk, for what is believed to be the first time in the County.
Dr Dan Pratt, councillor, ecologist and parliamentary candidate for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich, said:
“We welcome the release as a contribution to both flood alleviation and environmental gain. Beavers are recognised as ecosystem engineers, creating valuable habitat for a range of other species. And for reducing flooding, they are better in all respects than concrete flood defences.”
