Voters endorse Green council as Lorraine wins Mid Suffolk by-election

Mid Suffolk Green Party councillors have welcomed their newest colleague, Lorraine Baker, who won the Chilton, Stowmarket by-election held on Thursday 2nd May.  Lorraine becomes a member of the 24-strong Green team which last year became the first in the country to gain an overall majority and run their council. She will also be able to draw on the knowledge and experience of over 750 Green councillors elected on to 178 authorities up and down the country.

District Council leader Andy Mellen said : “It is great to add more talent to our diverse team, especially someone so deeply rooted in her local community.”

Lorraine added: ” I am looking forward to the new challenge, working alongside friends and colleagues to make Stowmarket an even better town. I would also like to thank everyone who voted for me, and I will be working for everyone in Chilton.”
